Andalusian Stitch Knitting Pattern

The andalusian stitch is an easy to knit stitch pattern. It’s basically stockinette stitch but with a little twist.
Every fourth row alternates knits and purls, as in 1+1 ribbing.
It’s simple but with a little more texture to it than the regular stockinette stitch.
This stitch can be used for sweaters or blankets. Just add a few purl stitches to a stockinette pattern to add some more interest to your project!
Is the andalusian stitch reversible
No, the Andalusian stitch is not reversible. The right and the wrong side looks different. It’s clean and pretty on the wrong side too, and it wouldn’t be a problem to let it show.
Does this stitch curl
Yes, this stitch does curl a bit because there are more of the knits than the purls. This makes the tension in the fabric uneven.

Double andalusian stitch
There is also a variation called double Andalusian stitch. This stitch has two knit stitches and one purl stitch in the “rib”-row.
Cast on a multiple of three + 1

Want to learn how to skip the purl rows?
I dislike the purl rows because I feel they both slow me down and I have trouble keeping tension when I knit only purl stitches.
So instead of turning my work and purling the purl rows, I knit does rows backward.
When I knit backward I get the right tension and I feel like I get a better flow!
